Masvingo Riot police Storm CSO Meeting arrest and detain four HRDs

Police in Masvingo have stormed a CSO meeting at local venue New Gate Lodge today 04 July 2016 around 1800hrs where different organizations where chatting the way forward with regards to the rampant corruption and the wave of protest currently ongoing in Zimbabwe. COTRAD Trust convened the meeting while Masvingo Residents Trust, Masvingo Research Institute, ICOD Zimbabwe, Masvingo United Residents and Ratepayers Alliance where also represented in the meeting.

Heavy police details stormed the meeting apprehended the organizers of the meeting and are currently detained at Masvingo Central Police station. Brighton Ramusi, Ishamel Kupfuwa Tatenda Maposa, Johannes Muzenda are detained at Masvingo Central Police Station. The arrested and detained where harassed and assaulted by the visibly angry police details. No charges have been levelled against them as of yet.

COTRAD is strongly against the use of violence by the police which is targeting HRDs and will move swiftly to mobile more citizens to express their displeasure with the contact of the police and Government of Zimbabwe which continue to fail its citizens
