Counter protests a big joke

July 19, 2016

Source: Tajamuka/Sesjikile

Zimbabweans have learnt with great disbelief that elements within the ruling Zanu PF Party, in particular the Youth League, intend to demonstrate in retaliation to the pro-democracy protests that have engulfed the country. To imagine that such utterances are coming from people living in Zimbabwe under the same dictatorship is not only unthinkable but diabolical. It is surely unimaginable that a sane person would protest so that: Civil servants should not get their money in time, Bond Notes should replace real money, corruption should continue, the import ban to stand, more police roadblocks, more police brutality and that they do not want jobs? It surely boggles the mind that there are some youths who are struggling to put bread on the table for their families who are ready to be used by their leaders who have been looting from our country for decades and are not affected by the economic problems that we are all facing.

As Tajamuka/Sesjikile, our message to Zanu PF youths is simple: THINK AGAIN! What you want to do is protesting against YOURSELVES! As a democratic campaign Tajamuka/Sesjikile recognises the right of Zanu PF youths to protest in favour of whatever ideology they believe in, but we want to make it clear that we will not be pushed to cross the constitutional line. Our past has taught us, we know that you want to provoke us and engage in violence so that the Zanu PF regime will find an excuse to criminalise our campaign. Fellow Tajamukas/Sesjikiles, Zimbabwe does not belong to a few chosen ones; it belongs to all of us. There is no amount of intimidation and violence that is going to halt the momentum towards democratic change, we continue to believe that united in our diversity from all corners of Zimbabwe and the Diaspora, the Zanu PF regime will soon be a thing of the past. Continue to engage in democratic actions within your communities and demanding accountability from your leaders – VICTORY IS CERTAIN

Inspiring Quotations

"The determined efforts, and spirited focus by Zimbabweans from all paths and circles of life against authoritarianism as epitomised by #Tajamuka, #ThisFlag, churches, political parties, individuals etc just transmits a 'zing' of confidence, hope and dawn of a new dispensation from my skull nerves to my balls right to the tip of my foot. Authoritarianism and the despotic dispensation are under electrocution."
- Adolf, Kubatana subscriber in reply to our question asking what keeps people inspired during these tough times
" It was good and permissible when the flag since 1980 was carried by every Harry and Tom to Rufaro Stadium or National Sports Stadium to support Zimbabwe's national team the Warriors. It is good and permissible when the flag is carried about by women and children flocking to the airport to routinely receive the President from his many foreign travels. It is good and permissible if the flag is mutilated and redesigned on the party regalia of the country's self-acclaimed LIFE RULING SINGLE PARTY. It is now bad and not permissible when it is carried by those who demand that the sacrifices of those who lost their lives and years in the liberation struggle be respected by those in power through fighting corruption; practising good governance; public accountability by bringing to book those who are responsible for the missing $15 billion diamond revenues; fiscal austerity by cutting down on the many annual trips the President embarks on; by cutting on extravagance through avoiding the purchase of expensive Range Rovers when the govt is very broke to the point of asking for financial help from those it says are destabilising the economy and country."
